EEI Programs

Eagle Eye Institute programs offer urban youth an exciting hands-on experience that awakens their natural curiosity and encourages them to seek more. In small groups of 12 to 15 participants, instructors develop a one-on-one connection with youth in an open environment that allows learning to take place.

Eagle Eye Institute programs include "Learn About Forests," "Learn About Water," and "Learn About Agriculture"--one-day offerings--as well as the three-day "Learn More About the Forests" program. Programs take place during the summer at rural natural sites such as Harvard Forest, Quabbin Park Reservoir, Cronin National Salmon Station, and Eagle Eye Land Trust in Peru, MA. Participants come from CYD organizations, and range in age from 10 years old up to the early 20s. All programs are free of charge.

EEI also runs a year-round "Rainbow Stewards" program that involves a core group of Somerville, MA, youth, operating in partnership with the wider Somerville community, to assess and identify the street trees in Somerville. Through the efforts of this project, EEI is assisting the city in the development of a comprehensive plan to maintain the health of Somerville's street trees.
