A Challenge for CYD Writers

Call for Papers

Here's a challenge to CYD readers and would-be writers. We are looking for
articles that seriously challenge the conventional thinking about schools and school reform--ideas and/or practices that embrace the CYD framework, take us beyond "tinkering at the edges," and right into full-scale restructuring by employing a CYD framework.

As you grasp pen to hand or stretch fingertips over your computer keyboard, ask yourself the following questions.

  • As we enter the dawn of a new century, how should we think about educating our youth to be stewards of a democratic society and our natural environment?

  • What are the major challenges facing our civilization?

  • Is preparing youth for the workforce enough?

  • What should be taught, and how should it be taught?

  • What should the relationship be between home, school, and community?

  • All put together, what would such a school look and feel like?

Similarly, we looking for "out of the box" thinking on topics including race relations, social justice, privilege, poverty, and the environment.
